Doc's Appt

Update:

No big surprise but our little girl is going to be a big girl. The doctor said that I'm measuring right on schedule but he felt like she's already around seven pounds. I'm only 37 weeks. At this rate, she will be around nine pounds. My doctor is going out of town for ten days. The day after he gets back in town, he is schedule for surgery. So, I will see him on June 14th and we will decided on the next step. He told me that he would help me bring my labor on my own or we could just wait! I'm really leaning towards having him break my bag of water on the 14th. I really don't feel like pushing out another nine pound baby. My biggest worried at this point is the baby will be too big and I will end up with complications.

I'm dialated at 1.50cm and 80% effaced. He thinks that by next week, I should be up to a 3cm. By the time, he gets back in town that I should be up to a 4cm. Remember with Leah, I made it up to 5cm and I had to have him break my water. I was really worried that if I went into labor at home that I wouldn't make it to the hospital in. So, the doctor feels like the same thing is going to happen again.

For some reason, I make my girl babies huge and my boy babies tiny. So, I'm going to enjoy myself until the baby comes. I'm planning on spending a lot of time at the pool and walking. Hopefully, things will move along smoothly.

Going Green

This morning, I ran out of my stash of homemade laundry detergent. Landon was complaining about being bored so I decided to give him a job. So, I pulled out a bar of Zote and the cheese grater and sent him to work. He really enjoyed it. After he shaved the soap bar, I had him but it in the food processor and grind it up! He added the other two ingredients and poured into a quart size canning jar. Seriously, he was done in less than 15 minutes from start to finish. I'm pretty sure his future wife will appreciate my efforts to make my son independent and frugal...lol!

Soap recipe

Each batch yields approximately 32 ounces (between 32-64 loads based on how many Tbsp used per load).
I recommend using a food processor, it will help break down the shaved Zote bar.
Thoroughly stir together for 5 minutes and enjoy the results! That’s it folks…seems too good to be true, but it is true indeed!

Summer Break Kickoff

Summer Break Kickoff Week

1.  The boys last day of school was on Monday, May 21st! It's nice to be out of school early but it's going to make for a very long summer. The kids will go back to school August 20th. I will have all three kids in school is year. Landon will be entering 4th grade, Logan will be in 2nd grade, and Leah will be a Kindergartner. No more preschool, I have been driving the kids to preschool for the past six years. It's going to be nice to have a couple of years off before the new baby will be attending preschool.

2.  I'm due in less than three weeks, yippee!!!! I'm so ready to be done! I'm now, going to the doctor every week until the baby comes. I'm trying not to stress out to much about my doctor going on vacation. If you really think about it, the nurses do 90% of the work. The next couple of weeks, I'm going to be running around with the kids. I don't want them to have a lame summer because I'm having a baby. So, I'm still feel'n good which means I'm trying to do a ton of summer activites with the kids before the baby comes.

3. This week alone, we have gone to the splash park, library (rogers & bella vista), swimming pool, sand park, sleep overs, bubbles, water sprinklers, playdates, jumping on the trampoline, ice cream cones, building forts, catching fire flys, ice pops, and staying up late playing with neighbor friends.  My theory this summer is have as much free and unstrurture play time. I'm planning on taking the kids to the pool just about every day of the week. I won't be able to go swimming when the baby comes, so now is the time to enjoy it.

4.  The pool finally opened up on Friday, the water is cold but it's not too bad once you get in it. I'm red as a lobster but it's okay. I'm just working on my summer tan, I'm usually good about turning red to brown, pretty quickly.

5.  It's so nice, to be able to sleep in. The kids are staying up late but I'm loving how nice and quiet it is in the mornings.

6. I'm back to working on my scrapbooks. The kids last night pulled out all of the scrapbooks and it was really fun looking back when they were little itty bitty babies. Logan hates all of the naked baby pictures but I think they are adorable.

7.  Yesterday, we went to the Blueberry Barn to pick berries. We have been going for the past four years. Landon claimed he didn't want to go picking because he doesn't like blueberries but when I told him he could stay home with daddy. He threw a huge fit. Ya, I knew he wanted to go picking but he wouldn't admit it. When we got to the place to pick berries. A lady that worked at the farm asked when I was due. I told her June 19th and we headed out to the patch to pick. I really didn't think anything about it until we came back from picking three gallons of blueberries. The next thing, I knew she was coming up to me wanting a big hug. I wasn't sure at first why she wanted to give me a hug at first but she told me that she was so worried about me. She thought for sure I would go into labor while picking berries and they would have to deliver the baby out in the patch...lol! She even told me that she sent her husband out to keep an eye on me...lol! It was super sweet of her. I'm pretty sure the baby isn't coming any time soon. It would make for an interesting birth story if I did go into labor while picking berries!

8. It's really hard to keep track of time, now that the kids are done with school. It's only been the first week of school but it's so nice not to be tied down to a set schedule. The only thing on my calendar is doctors appointments and I have to go visiting teaching. I'm taking off the month of July. I'm not going to drag all of my soon to be four kids to visiting teaching appointments.

9. My birthday is coming up on Wed. I'm feel'n a little bit on the old side...I'm going to be turning 34! A little bit crazy if you ask me. I'm not planning a party this year. My in laws threw me a little surprise party, last Sunday at their house. A Dairy Queen ice cream cake plus a nice cookbook and sewing pattern for the baby. I'm not sure if we are going to do anything else for my birthday this year.

10.  I catch Logan on my sewing machine this morning. He was busy sewing barbie doll clothes for Leah's dolls. I love how well he can keep himself busy. I just wish my other son could do the same thing!

Ten on Tuesday

1. School is finally over, the kids are out for the next 90 days.

2. We kicked off the Summer Break with a quick trip to the Splash Park! The kids had a blast but they weren't too happy about the temperature of the water. It was cold but it didn't stop them from having fun. To dry off, we headed over to the park that's located across the parking lot. The kids had so much fun running around and playing tag and hide-n-seek.

3. After the Splash Park, we headed over to Aldi's for some food shopping. The kids are getting so big, they are such big helpers. Landon managed to get the shopping cart plus he pushed it all over the store for me. I didn't have to unload the shopping cart...all three kids help unloading the groceries onto the convener belt. They even fought over who was going to pick up the watermelon. I was a little bit worried that Landon was going to drop it on the floor but he managed it just fine.

4. Our final stop was to the local library. We had several overdue audio books. So, we dropped them off and we headed over to the children's library. I managed to pick up the rest of the series of "Dairy of a Wimpy Kid" which is really fun to listen to...highly recommend them. Leah's favorite phrase from the book is "Zoo We Mama"! She says this all the time...it's really cute! The boys picked out their books...I'm mean Chapter books...boo hoo! No more picture books for them. Landon's reading a book that's about 500 pages long. It's about magic and fantasy. The little guy has already finished about 50 pages. Logan picked out a couple of chapters books as well. I remember when they were little I use to read to them out loud from chapter books while drinking hot chocolate. Those days are gone...boo hoo! They don't need me anymore...good thing another baby is on the way. My boys are growing up FAST!

5.  I had my doctor's appointment today, not to much to report. I gained two more pounds, my blood pressure is up but it's still in the perfectly normal range, and I'm dilated 1 cm plus I'm 60% effaced. My doctor is going on vacation in a couple of weeks, I'm really hoping I wouldn't be left to the mercy of some random on call doctor. I'm trying not to get to upset. I normally don't deliver until my due date. He will be back in town on the 16th and my due date is 19th! Plus, the week I'm due Logan is going to art camp and Landon is going to twilight cub scout camp. It's going to be hard but I know I have lots of friends that will help us out.

6. Everything is ready for the baby. I finished packing my hospital bag last night! I had a couple of strong contractions and that was enough to scare me into getting all the loose ends finished up. My friend Emily threw me a baby shower. It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. It was so FREAKIN cute! The illegal baby crawling race was so much fun! I can see it being repeated with other baby showers. I just want to thank everyone who came my baby's shower. It means a lot to me! I loved every single gift that I receive from the shower. Thanks, again!

7.  Leroy's brother William sadly will be leaving in the morning and going back home to Hawaii. Lucky dog, I wish we were all going back with him...lol! The kids have had so much fun with their Uncle that it will be sad to see him leave. Logan is bossed with Uncle Wiliiam's fake diamond earrings. He wants his own set, William told him that if he gets earrings he will be in big trouble. He omitted to Logan that he is not being a good example...lol!

8.  Right now, I'm currently working on scrapbooking. I just finished a digital book about the kids soccer season. It's so fast and easy. I'm also working on finishing up all the photos that I have stored in books in the house. I'm also doing old fashion paper scrapbooking. I have all the supplies, it's time to get busy. It's so much more time consuming. It's really fun, looking back at the pictures of the kids. Right now, I'm working on 2006! I know once the baby comes that I will be too tired so I'm working hard at it.

9.  I'm walking again, I hate feel'n like a couch potato! I'm trying to walk every morning. I can't seem to be able to sleep in. So, I'm going to walk before Leroy leaves to go to work. I can't seem to find the key for the treadmill which is a bummer. I'm sure it will pop up sometime...hopefully sooner than later.

10. We still don't have a name, I'm thinking at this point we should try to come up with an entirely different name...maybe "LeiLani" and call her "Lani" for short. Arghh...seriously, the only thing left on my to-do list for the baby!

Overachiever

Be ready, this is a bragging post.

Landon managed to bring home seven awards from school. Yes, you read that right, seven! I'm a little bit upset with myself for not bringing my camera. I only expected him to receive one award but he ended up being called up over seven times to come to the stage!

Awards:

  1. Brunco Run Club-5k Gold Rush Run
  2. AB Honor Roll
  3. Citizenship Award- This is award to two kids from each class for each semester. Landon was nominated and voted by his classmates for this award.
  4. Kiwanis Terrific Kids-Landon's teacher said that "I can aways count on him to do the right thing." Mrs. Hallwachs.
  5. Athletics-this award was given to students that showed sportsmanship, coordination, and leadership skills.
  6. All Star Student-Student Council for serving on the council and being a good board member.
  7.  Art award-Artistic Excellence
I'm so proud of my son...he can always be counted on by his teacher to make good choices, He is well liked by his peers, and doesn't have a problem standing up for others at school.

Landon always gives 100% and I love him so much...Way to go!!!!  Next year, Landon will be in Fourth grade. Where did all the time go??????

Busy Busy Hands

I didn't make this, I bought it off Etsy...yes, my hands are busy with online shopping. This will be Lydia's coming home outfit. I have made a decision on the name....Lydia Rose, Leroy will just have to deal with it.

I have been working on this baby blanket for the past couple of months. I hate just sitting around doing nothing especially when you have three kids in soccer and let me tell you that's a lot of time just sitting around and waiting for them to finish their games and practices. I'm finally done. It's so soft and snuggle! Lydia is going to love it!

I purchase this scrapbook it back when Leah was a baby but I never got around to actually making it. So, I decided to be smart and work on it in advance. It's a 8x8 scrapbook. It's a month scrapbook, I will add pictures for the first 10 months of the baby's life. Super cute, plus I will add more embellishments later on, once I add the photos.

I made something similar for my daughter Leah when she was a baby. It's a baby's first year scrapbook/calendar. I will try to write down something everyday on the calender like milestones plus I made an extra page to add photos. I will also write up a month journal entry. It's getting harder to remember all the details of the kids and it's really not that hard to journal.

I did have my baby shower last night, it was awesome! Lots of yummy food, fun entertainment, and lots of Friends to celebrate the new baby. I will write up another post about the shower. So, I'm all set for the baby, the only thing left to do is to pack my bag for the hospital. I have about four more weeks to go!!! It's going by so fast, I can't wait to wrap her up in the blanket that I knitted for her!

Mother's Day BBQ...Surprise!

A Mother's Day surprise...Leroy and his brother worked up a special surprise for their mother. Last year, while we were in Hawaii on vacation...the guys talked about having William come visit us on the Mainland and visit with his parents. They decided it would be more fun for him to make a surprise visit and surprise his mom and dad! We all played our parts. Landon knew about the surprise for about 3 months and never said a word to anyone. The day, Uncle William fly into the airport...is the day we told the two younger kids. I was really worried that the kids would spill the beans but they didn't! Due to us, attending church at 1:00pm we decided to celebrate Mother's Day at our house on Saturday with a big BBQ celebration. I spent literally all day on Friday prepping food and cleaning up the house for the big day.

Leroy's parents and sister came over for BBQ around 12:00pm. We told them that we had a package from William and we had gifts to pass out in the Sun Room. We all sat down, the kids were being super good. I was really worried that they would say something but they didn't. Leroy passed out all of the goodies from Hawaii. Leroy told her that he had one more thing for her and pulled out a MuuMuu dress for his mom. She was really excited about it. It was a surprise, the dress...she didn't realize it at the time but she had another surprise coming....Leah at this point mention a "surprise" but grandma thought she was talking about the dress.

Leroy told his mom that he forgot he had one more gift for her. He went downstairs and came back upstairs with William behind him. His parents were in complete shocked. They couldn't believe their eyes. It's been about three years since William has come for a visit. Everyone was crying and very happy. So, we had a surprise of a lifetime.

Preschool Spring Program

For six straight years, I have been driving kids to the Bella Vista Preschool at the First United Methodist Church. Yes, six straight years with no break. Landon, Logan, and Leah have all graduated from the same preschool. All of my kids have loved attending preschool...it's not a prefect school but it's prefect for my kids. All three started out as caterpillars and have bloomed into Butterflys! I thought for sure that Leah would break from the Scheele curse of not speaking a word during the program. Leah refused played the part of The Three Bears...she played the baby bear. She refused to speak any of her speaking part just like the boys. She did sing which is more than Logan. He refused to open his mouth one time during his graduation. Anyways, my little girl is all grown up and will be going to kindergarten in the fall. Where did all the time go?

Doc's Appointment

Nothing to report

I'm still pregnant

My blood pressure is still perfect...no problems!

The doctor felt bad that we wasted an hour to see him.

Nothing to discuss.

I have six more weeks to go!

The baby has dropped and is deep in my pelvis. He claims that the baby will not move out of position at this point.

Just waiting to pass the time.

I'm almost done with the baby's scrapbook.

I need to work on  sewing a couple of baby booties

Plus we still need to set up the crib and get a carseat.

My baby shower is in less than two weeks, I can't wait! It's going to be so much fun!

We still don't have a name...it's still up for debate: Lucy or Lydia?

Gold Rush 5k

2012
Logan 7 & Landon 9

2010
Logan 5 & Landon 7

Back in 2010, Landon ran the 5k with a time of 29:40 and Logan ran his very first fun run (1k)!

Now in 2012, Landon ran the 5k but a different course of a time of 26:33 a pace of 8:44! Logan ran in the Fun Run again. He came in 12th place but he was the fourth person to come in for Cooper Elementary.

Logan now wants to start training for a 5k! Landon of course, doesn't train because he only like running races. Yesterday at the races, I was so proud of my boys. It sucks that I'm huge and miserable! It was pure toture watching everyone running but me! I'm so proud of my boys!!!!

Landon was the very first student from Cooper Elementary to come in at the 5k race. The boys shirt this year, were bright green. I saw him coming down to the finish line. I was so proud of him. He was kicking butt!!!!!! I still couldn't believe his time. He did an awesome job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was upset at the end, that he didn't win an award. He can him 5th place for his age group but he came in 5th place out of 132 other boys in his age group of (0-9) years old.

If he would just train, he could be even faster!

Logan really wants to earn a medal.

I'm going to sign them up for another race next weekend.

It's a free race for kids!!!!!

We will be there!
