It's a team effort!
Logan is still struggling to learn his colors. I picked up a couple of bags of Jelly Beans. I set 7 plates on the ground with the words and color spot to help Logan self-correct himself when he made a mistake. He did really great but soon grew tired of the activity. Little sister decided to join in the fun. Leah was so cute. She kept asking "What's this?" for each color jelly bean. It didn't take long for her to catch on. She was able to place all of her jelly beans on the correct plates. She was so proud of herself. She would even self-correct herself. The kids were so proud of themselves. Logan still can't figure the color red or green but he did identify all of the other colors correctly. Little sister will have her colors down in no time. She knows the color PINK for sure. Way to go, kids!!!!!!!!!!!
Bb week: April 6-10
I decided to take a new approach torwards learning his ABC's.
Logan was so excited this morning. He already knows the sound the letter B makes which really surprised me. I pulled together a bunch of different things for him. Logan and Leah will be busy making the letter "B" out of stamps, paper punches, paint, playdough, and lot of hands on activities.

I'm going to print out quite a few fun crafts and worksheets. I love this website called DLTK! You can find tons of letter B activites at this site. All you need is a printer and paper!
Tip of the Day
My kids have a hard time having friends over or going over to someone elses house to play. I always found having a little craft activity seems to help the kids come together and get comfortable with each other. The kids loved mixing up their paints and making handprints. The kids took off playing after this activity and we didn't have any being shy issuses after this fun and messy activity!

Margarette Falls
Leroy and I decided to do something just by ourselves on the second day of our trip to Eastern Tennessee! I came across this site which had a ton of really cool hiking trails around where my parents live. I downloaded the driving directions and we headed towards the Blue Ridge Mountains to go hiking.
This is one of the most popular falls in Greene County, TN is the amazing 60-foot-tall Margarette falls. Getting to the falls was quite the adventure. Trying to locate this fall wasn't easy. We ended up getting lost a couple of times but we finally ended up driving down into a valley which eventually leaded to this really narrow road. Kinda reminded us of Arkansas. We ended up seeing some really old log cabin houses and we say a small sign telling us to turn into the parking lot. We were the only ones at the trail. Leroy thought maybe we should bring his gun for protection from wild animals. We were seriously in the middle of nowhere.
The hike to the falls was surprising beautiful and appeared to be quite easy at first. The trail eventually turned quite fairly strenuous. The trail snakes its way through impressive rock formations, over and around lots of small waterfalls and cascades, and across four creek crossings as it makes its way through the gorge to the falls. We even had to walk across a creek on old fallen log. Leroy ended up taking the camera from me when it was my turn to cross the log. He thought for sure, I would fall of the log which I made across it just fine. The waterfall itself is magnificent - the combination of free-falling water and cascades makes this waterfall unique and picturesque.
We decided to climb up the side of the waterfall. I read somewhere online if you climb up the side of the waterfall you can find another waterfall further up. It was straight up and I thought several times I was going to slip and fall. We managed our way up the water stream and started our trek to find the other falls. We came across an old campfire and we really had a hard time finding a trail. We find two much smaller waterfalls and the trail seemed to disappeared. We were literally hiking thru the forest. Leroy decided it would be best to turn around and go back. We didn't want to end up lost in the mountains.
On the way back, it was just as beautiful. Leroy kept joking I was going to fall down and twist my ankle. We were almost back to the van when I ended up tripping on my own foot. I didn't come completely down on my ankle. I still couldn't believe I felled down. It was completely flat on the bottom part of the trail. I got back up and manage just fine back to the van.
We left the hiking trail and decided to head back to Greenville for lunch at Applebee's than be decided to go shooting!

All About Sciene-Insects!
After doing no school time at home. I found my source of inspiration from this great book called The Icky Bug Counting Book by Jerry Pallotta (Author), Ralph Masiello (Illustrator). I ended up hitting a local resale shop looking for some new clothes for my kids. I stumbled across this awesome book plus a ton of other books. I seriously left with a huge bag of used books in excellent condition! I only paid $1 for this book. Sweet! Yes, I left with all books and no clothes. My kids clothes are getting small on my kids but at least they have books to fuel their brains. Isn't it sad, when you walk into someones home and you don't see any children's books. You know the parents have all the lasted video games and clothes for their children but no books. Seriously, every child should of a library books of their very own.
Ralph Masiello illustrations in this book are incredible. The books literally come to life. The kids had so much fun counting the insects and bugs on each bag. The bugs in this book are unusually and not seen everyday. This make the book even more fun to read. Also, there is a really cool secret at the end of the book. I'm not going to tell you. You need to get the book yourself and figure out ourselves. I will give you a hint. The book counts up to 26! Okay, think about the alphabet backwards.
I picked up this butterfly house kit at walmart last year on clearance for only $5! All year long we have been waiting to grow our own butterflies. We pulled out the mailing card and sent it in to receive our catterpillars. Hopefully, we will get them in a couple of weeks. I will keep you all updated.
I decided it would be great fun to grow so insects! You can pick up these instant insects at Walmart for $2.95. I thought it was kinda expensive but the kids loved it. You just drop one capsule in a bowl of warm water. The kids loved watching the insects grow. A very cool thing about this product is on the back side it has a guide to identify each and every bug.

Landon ended up doing an awesome job at classifying each insect. My little guy is growing up so fast. Landon did a great job sounding out each word and matching it up to the correct specimen.

Ressurection Eggs
Several years ago a good friend from church gave me this set of ressurection eggs. I have been several over the whole easter celebration issuse of making it fun and all about the easter bunny or trying to focus on the real meaning of Easter. Yesterday, I remembered I had these eggs up in the closet. I do this every year but for some reason. I forgot all about it. So, I pulled down the eggs and decided to put all the eggs in this easter basket. The kids were so excited this morning. I had it right on the kitchen table. We are allready a couple of days behind schedule. Your suppose to read one egg everyday leading up to Easter. This morning, I had each boy pick out number #12 and #11. The spirit was in our home! What a great way to start the day!
You'll need 12 large Easter eggs labeled on the outside from 1-12 and put the following items inside:
#1 Sacrament cup
#2 three dimes
#3 small rope or twine
#4 soap chip
#5 red cloth, thorns
#6 cross (use a toothpick) and one small nail
#7 dice
#8 sponge, stick
#9 rocks
#10 white linen cloth, round stone
#11 spices (bay leaf and clove)
#12 leave empty
Read each of the following scriptures as you open each egg:
#1 Matthew 26:39
#2 Matthew 26:14-15, thus fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 11:12-14
#3 Matthew 27:1-2
#4 Matthew 27:24-26
#5 Matthew 27:28-30
#6 Matthew 27:31-32, and he was crucified and nailed to a cross.
#7 Matthew 27:35-36

For a unique presentation of the often heard Easter story, cut apart the following scriptures and put them correspondingly numbered plastic eggs. Add the appropriate item (in parentheses) except for the 12th egg, which should remain empty.
Serve the eggs in a decorated basket, from an egg carton, or at each place setting at the dinner table. This adds a nice touch to a church lesson, family home evening, or as a gift. Or play a game of “scrambled eggs” by having players match the scriptures to the items, or putting the story in sequence.
1. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Matthew 26:39; (Sacrament Cup)
