See MOM Run...

I'm still going strong. I decided a great way to start off by celebrating the 4Th of July by running in 5k Firecracker race. I ended up getting very little sleep last night. We were up late watching the Bella Vista Fireworks. It ended up taking a good hour to get home due to all the traffic.

I could barely get out of bed, which is not a good sign.

My new running buddy Tia picked me up so no backing out! I put on my brand new running clothes and headed out the door.

The weather so nice not like last weekend's run. It was much cooler and kinda of overcast. I thought for sure the weather was going to stay nice but the sun came out and so did the humidity. Half way thru the race, we were dying.

I thought the trail would be easier than last week. WRONG!!!! It was part paved, gravel, dirt, pot holes, and rocks. It was FUN! I thought I was going to die on the hills. It was one hill right after another. Not easy.

I started off the race fast. I thought I wasn't going too fast but Tia said we managed a 8 minute mile. I sure did feel like I was going to burn out at the end. Tia was in the front pushing me along. I really wanted to beat last weeks time. So, we made it to the last half mile marker and Tia pushed me hard to finish strong. I just remember what Chalene Johnson always says "don't stop because you want to, stop because you have to" or something like that. It was really hard but I picked up the pace and finished strong. I was very proud of myself. We both finished together at 28:20 minutes.

We decided to wait around for the award ceremony. I wasn't sure how I placed in the race. The competition was fierce. The local running club was sponsoring the event. When they started reading the race results for my age group. I was holding my breath. I had a strong feeling when the guy started to read the second place winner. He paused for a moment. He was trying to figure out how to pronounce my first and last name. Sure enough, he called my name. I was so happy!!!!! Yes, I ended up placing again.

My first running award. I'm going to be shooting for first place eventually!
My new running buddy! I wouldn't of finished with such a great time without her support. Can't wait to run more races together!
