Do you think birds know when it's going to snow?

This week's theme at teaching tiny tots is snow!

I decided it would be fun to focus on winter for the week. I had no idea it was going to snow this week. We didn't get enough snow to make a snow man or snowball. So, I came across this book at the library called Snowballs by Lois Ehlert! I just love her books.

Well, we didn't get enough snow to make any snowman. So, out came the paints and we were all set to make our own snowman inside. Logan did an excellent job painting his snowman. He decided he could help improve my snowman. He ended up painting in a black hat, scarf, and all the buttons. He ended up doing a great job.

Leah decided she didn't want to miss out of the action. She ended up painting a huge dirty looking snowball. If you look closely she is holding the paint brush really well.

So, back to the question which comes from the book. Do you think birds know when its going to snow?

Snow Day

No school, today!!!!!!!!!!

Snow Day!!!!!!!

The kids were all outside waiting for the bus. The bus never came. I invited all the kids over to play at our house. Its 7 o'clock in the morning. I needed a quick activity to keep the kids busy. So, I went to the Teaching Tiny Tots website. I found this great idea to make bird seed cakes. Click here! for directions!
Also, on the side note! I feel really sad for all of my friends who hate having their kids home today. My phone has already been ringing off the hook from my friends upset they have to spend the day with their kids. I feel really bad for mom's who can't stand to be with their kids. I see it as a gift from God. An extra day to spend with my kids. Gosh, if your kids are bored. Than, do something with them: a craft, read them a book, and play a board game!!!!!!! Gosh... I'm going to get off my soapbox.

Faux Snow

The theme is week is going to be winter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It hardly ever snows here! The kids have been wanting to make a snowman for a long time. Even if it does snow it usually melts aways super fast.

Check out this website to get the directions to make faux snow, click here . The kids loved this. Logan didn't like getting his hands dirty which is very strange for him. He usually doesn't mind getting dirty. I think it was the texture that turned him off.

I ended up using dove soap and it worked just fine!

So, much fun....

The sweetest gift...

BLACKBERRY APPLE PIE

I finally had the honor of homemade pie made by my friend Emily. The kids have been sick for the past six days. Its been a difficult week. My dear friend dropped by with a wonderful pie. Leah kept running around the house begging for pie. I wanted to take a picture of the pie to share with everyone but I couldn't locate my camera. Oh, the crust of so light and flaky. The pie filling was awesome. Totally, made my day. Don't ya just love good friends?

Justing Thinking...

My neighbor and I were talking last night. We are both thinking about homeschooling our kids in the fall. She mentioned we might be able to get a couple more families in Bella Vista that homeschool and forming our own homeschool coop. I'm not sure of all the details but both of us are not impressed with Cooper. Our kids are sooo bored and its curriculm is really easy not challenging at all. So, we might end up homeschooling next year. I'm really excited about the idea.

Snowflake Count & Clip!

This is a great little seasonal counting activity at Making Learning Fun. I really liked it this activity is its hands on by counting the snowflakes and using the clothpins to clip the correct number. Logan loves using his hands. It's free to print out which everyone loves free printouts. Logan really had fun helping me cut and laminte the cards. He was able to do the first couple of cards (0-5)! I'm not sure if he can do the higher number cards. I'm thinking I will leave those cards for Landon.
