She's Walking...

All three of my older kids walked at the ripe age of 9 months old. I wasn't sure if the baby was going to do the same thing or not but while we were in Branson. She took her very first step.

She's now, ten months old and she can take about 3-4 steps at a time.

Sisters!

I had the honor of testing this pattern, it isn't for release yet. So, as soon as I get the ahold. I will add the link, if you're interested in trying out this Tunic/Skirt combo!

I had enough material left over to make a tunic dress for the baby. Even though they're about 5.5 years apart in age, doesn't mean they still can't coordinate.

1st Baptism Dress

It stinks to be so far away from family, my brother's daughter is getting baptized the end of May. We wouldn't be able to make it to her baptism. So, I asked my brother if I could make her a dress for the big day. I told him that I could either make her a regular dress or I could make her a white one. She decided that she wanted a white one. My brother sent me several pictures of dresses that she liked and I made my own version of the dress.

I decided to go ahead and make a practice dress. I found some super cheap fabric at a yard sale and whip up a dress for Leah. I discovered a lot which is why I took the time to make a practice dress. It's not always clear when reading pattern instructions. I did make several mistake but I learned my lesson. The baptism dress turned out beautiful.

I'm still surprised that I managed to finish it in less than one day. I dress pattern is called "Gaberilla" and it's pdf pattern. It's made with white satin, lace trim, and tulle. It has a built in petticoat to make it poofy! I hand pleated the sleeves and waistband.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it's going to fit her. He told me that she wore a size 7/8. So, I went with the size 8. It's better to be a little bit big and not too small.

I'm really hoping, she will like it. Leah was really bummed when I told her that the dress was not for her but her cousin.

So, I guess, when Leah gets baptized in two years that I will probably make her a similar dress.

Star of the Week

Leah was the Star of the Week at school. She brought in six photos of herself to put up on her classroom door plus her teacher help her write up six things about herself that she wanted to share with her classmates. This is what she said about herself.

I want to be a Teacher.

I am a Fantabulous Writer!

I love Reading!

I am a soccer star!

I stay on Green.

I love Centers!

I couldn't be prouder of my daughter. She knows who she is and stands tall and strong. She's a force not to be messed with and her coach is always saying how she's so driven at soccer. She doesn't hold back...she attacks the ball.

One more side note, if you have ever watched Leah play soccer...you will know that she always wears a skirt never the standard black shorts like everyone else on her team. She doesn't mind being a little bit different from everyone else. She wants to shine!!!!!!

The house is a wreck but the knot dress is done! I'm going to sew up a pair of ruffle pants to go with this dress. It's going to be so cute, when it's all said and done.

I managed to pick up some really cheap PDF patterns on Facebook from Aubrey's Tiered Ruffled Knot Dress by Create Kids Couture. I thought it would be a very difficult dress to sew but the girl that created this pattern did a great job breaking it down and it wasn't too bad to make.

I discovered a pattern group on Facebook, my latest addiction. Way too many cute patterns. I'm going to finish up this outfit and I'm going to work on making another knot dress but it's going to be purple/butterflies.

I'm also planning on sewing with knits. I'm going to make a knit dress that you upcycle using t-shirts. I can't wait to get started as well.

I'm at the point right now, I'm going to have to be sewing up 40 hours a week. I'm working really hard on Leah's spring/summer collection of clothes.

I'm learning a lot of new skills but overall I'm really happy with the final product.

Randon 10 on Thursday

1.  A huge shout out to my hubby. He's the most amazing man ever. He does everything in his power to provide for his family. He comes home from work and plays with the kids. Yes, he spends a lot of time on his projects but he makes sure everyone's needs are met before he spends time on his hobby's and projects. I love him for that!

2. As soon as Leroy get's home from work, Leilani goes crazy! If he walks past her which picking her up and saying hi. She freaks out. She will start crawling after him until she finds him and basically wouldn't let him ignore her. She's 100% a daughters girl. I think, Leah gets a little bit jealous but it's okay...Daddy has enough love for all of his girls!

2.  Logan learned how to build this kite at cub scouts, the weather isn't too nice at the moment and so we haven't had a chance to see if it will fly or not! He can't wait to try it out!

3.  I decided it was time to start dyeing my hair, way too much gray hair showing. I was starting to get a gray patch, right in the front. I'm not that old, my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. It's hard to believe that I'm almost 35. Where did all the time go? Well, at least I have my baby girl to help me still feel young...young at heart...lol!

4. This baby could be a model. She's so stink'n cute. We can't get enough of her. The kids always are picking her up and giving her tons of hugs and kisses.

She's almost too amazing. How did we get such a beautiful baby girl? She's a chatter box (babbles non-stop), smiles all the time, not shy at all (she will go to anyone), and she's  almost walking, and she's super smart!!!!!!!

I never did sew for a baby before so it's been a ton of fun. All the ruffles are just too cute on my baby. I'm still sewing like crazy but I'm making focusing on Leah this week but I will go back probably next week to the baby!

5. The big thing this week is testing for Landon is school testing. Landon's really enjoying it, they bribe the kids with treats and awards for their hard efforts. In kindergarten, he had testing which they don't do anymore in Kindergarten and he was the top test performer in his class. He only got one question wrong. Logan had his testing last week, it went well for him as well. I always tell the kids that I expect them to do their best and that's that. I don't expect them to make straight A's but I do expect them to give it their all.

It's hard to believe that Landon will be in Middle school next year.

6.  I'm still working hard on losing weight. I seriously, screwed up last week. I didn't follow the program, I ended up munching on so much candy. I gained back a couple of pounds. I talk to my partner and we're starting over. So, I'm a lot happier about it.

Losing weight is such a mental game. You have to be so tough on yourself or else it's so easy to slip back into bad eating habits.

I'm running and lifting weights.
I'm back to my old schedule. Chalean Extreme three days a week and running three days a week.

I'm drinking a gallon of water each day! I'm not going to lie, the first day was super hard but now I love it.

I only have ten more pounds to lose. I want to lose it all by the time I have my birthday which is May 30th!

7.  My BFF moved away, she hates it in Centerton. I don't blame her, it's pretty boring out there. The neighbor's are white trash. I could write a whole post on her first week there. The horrors. She's counting down the months until she can move back to Bella Vista.

8.  I have to go...I can't think of anything else to say.

9. Yesterday, I pick up Ms. Donna to take her to quilting group. She's my visiting teacher, I have been picking her up and driving her to quilt group for the past couple of months. She's in her 80's. It's been a lot of fun, getting to know her. She's always telling me stories about being a little girl growing up during the depression. She's old enough to be my grandma but we still always have a lot of things to talk about. Yesterday, she told me that you use to be able to buy yard of fabric for 5 cents and you could buy a store made dress for one dollar.

10. Oh, one more thing...we're going to Branson this weekend. Leroy's BFF invited us to join their family to Branson. He's BFF is from Branson and we will be staying at his parents house. Landon is excited that he will be able to finally brag about going to Branson. When I told him that we're not going to Silver Dollar City, he wasn't too happy. I'm not sure what were doing but the guys are planning this trip. I'm really excited to go away for the weekend!

11.  This is the really creepy one, this isn't a joke! Yes, I know that someday I will die and I know where I will be buried. It's a little bit weird but I guess you can't be too prepared.

Randon TEN on Wed

1.  If you're going to complain about something than come up with a solution or else just keep your mouth shut. Lots of people love to complain about things but if you really feel passionate about something than go for it and make your plan of action!

2. Do you every wonder if someone has made you into some sort of project. I have a really awkward situation, I'm not sure if I'm just reading into something and it's really no big deal but someone I know keeps calling and inviting my kids to things. The problem is my kids aren't friends with this persons kids. We have known each other for almost ten years but I can't say were friends at all. I'm always nice to her at church and she's nice to me but that's that. I keep declining but it's sort of weird. Where is this coming from...I'm a little bit worried that maybe she's trying to make me into some type of weird project. I know my BFF is moving to Centerton but my kids have a billion friends and I have a lot of friends as well. My hubby told me to just ignore her and not to over think it. I'm ok, I'm not looking to replace my BFF. It's a little bit strange. It's not my goal to be super duper friends with everyone at church. Anyway, I'm almost positive, she doesn't read my blog but if she does...you need to stop calling and emailing me so much. It's a little bit weird being our kids don't mix with each other, at all.

3. My bff is in the process of moving. It's sad, when lots of people told her that they would help her move and no one show up to help. What's wrong with people, don't offer if you didn't mean it. I feel really bad for her because she's totally awesome. I'm watching her kids again, this afternoon but now I'm thinking maybe I should of organized a clean up crew or meals for her. I feel like a bad BFF at the moment but hindsight is everything. Plus, if anyone has a washer and dryer that's for sell. Let me know, she's having to go the laundry mat and you know how awful that can be!

4. Easter was great, we had our own Easter Egg Hunt at the house. I'm really proud of the boys for organizing it at the last minute. They even had raffle tickets and door prizes.

5.  The weather is cold, again! When will Spring get here! I'm so tired of the clouds and lack of sunshine. I want lots of sunshine!

6. I feel super lame for not running in the Bentonville Half Marathon. I'm having lots of regrets at the moment. Why didn't I just push myself, why didn't I make the commitment, and why not? I know why I didn't do it but still I'm wishing I was running in it. I have a baby, she's a little bit more important than running in a race but I'm still jealous of all of my friends running this weekend. I will be cheering all of my friends on but it stinks to be on the sidelines.

7.  I'm sewing up some really cute sundresses for the baby. The apron pinafore dress is my new favorite thing to sew. I need to work on a couple of dresses for Leah. She's out growing all of her clothes. I could sew 24/7 but I still have a family. It's so hard to balance things out.

8.  My neighbor came over on Monday and she dyed my hair a brownish/reddish color with blond highlights. I'm going to see, if she can go back and add some more highlights. I thought it would be more red but it's not. It's okay, I didn't want to do anything too crazy.

9.  I currently doing the 9 weeks get in shape for Summer challenge. I'm really doing poorly at the moment. I feel like crap posting this because it's not hard at all. I'm so lacking discipline at the moment. I did managed to workout every morning but all the other stuff isn't happening. No treats, that's a hard one to follow plus I keep forgetting to do all of my stuff for it. I just don't have enough time to do everything. I'm hoping to drop the last ten pounds. I just need to get my act together and stop making excuses.

10.  The last thing, I'm currently weaning leilani. I'm hoping that once, she's completely weaned the last ten pounds will come off. She's down to two nursing sessions but my milk will not dry up completely. I feel like I could nurse triplets and I could still have milk leftover. She's doing really good taking a bottle and she's eating up everything. I'm hoping that maybe by the end of next week or maybe next week.
