Tanyard Creek...Again!

Endless summer fun that doesn't cost a penny. The boys invited the Davis boys to join us at Tanyard Creek this afternoon. I told their mother we would be gone for two hours but it turned into five hours. I couldn't believe it when I check my cell phone for the time. The boys were pretending to be Indians and they all really got into their charcter. The water at the creek was really nice not too cold but not to warm. The best part was sliding down the waterfalls. This part really reminding me of Hawaii. Overall, another successful day with the kids. Also, we were able to pick blackberries. I love free berries...yummy! The boys are off to day camp tomorrow. I can't wait to send them away from the day. I need a break!

Leah's Room

Sorry, not the best pictures. We're just about to leave for church so I don't have a lot of time. I used left over fabric from leah's new curtians to make these cute wall art. I have two of these panels...I just need to hang them up. Emily...I need your help!

I just finish adding the last couple of flowers on this letter "l" plaque. I used an old plaque and modge podge it with leftover paper from the letter name wall art that I made for Leah as well.
Okay, I went a little overboard with all the flowers but it still looks cute!
Leah's room will hopefully be done soon. I need to build her a bookcase and get rid of her old changing table that's currently working as a bookcase but it's time to upgrade my baby is growing up fast.

Homemade Dishcloth

My dish clothes look awful...I decided to take a stab at and make my own. I just use flannel which I pick up at Hobby Lobby...I pick out the only flannel fabric they had that didn't have a baby feel to it. I found this really cute bird fabric and I decided to use some white terry cloth for the backside.

This is the easiest project ever! I just cut out one 9 inch square of flannel and terry cloth fabric. All you do is sew the right sides together and leave a hole to turn the material right sides out. I went around the top of the flannel fabric and zig zag stitch around the top and this will sew up the opening of the fabric. I decided to make the dishcloth a little bit stronger. I went around a couple of the birds and top stitch them to give the dishcloth a little bit more stability and it help to make the birds pop out!

Overall...they turned out super cute. Leroy wasn't crazy about using them because their so stinkin cute. They work great...especially wiping your hands dry from washing the dishes.

Letter Wall Art

I'm working really hard to finish up at least one room in my house. I swear...I have a house full of unfinished projects or maybe I just have ADD. Anyways, I bought these wooden letters that stand up on their own. I lucked out to find them half off and decided to give it a try.

I made several rookie mistakes. Make sure to paint the wooden letters first than apply the scrapbook paper. I did it the other way around and I'm not completely happy with the finish project but I'm not going to redo it. I add on some cute flower stickers and modge podge the whole thing together.

The boys are jealous and they want me to make a whole set for them. So, that will be my next project. Logan's upset becuase he just realized that Leah's name starts with the same letter as his name "L". He wants to know why she's has the same letter...the poor guy doesn't realize yet that everyone's name in the family start's with the letter "L"!

So, what do you think?

The Great Shoe Race

The Great Shoe Race
This is how the game came about. The kids decided it would be fun to throw one pair of shoes into the creek and the kids would run to catch the shoes before they went too far down the creek.

Well, Leah decided not to wait her turn and threw in her shoes the same time as Hailey. Oh no, the kids couldn't move fast enough to get the shoes. Hailey grab her shoes but Leah's shoes went under a huge tree limb and Hailey freaked out. Landon and I took off to grab Leah's shoes.

As you can see from this picture the twigs and branches blocking the path. Well, Leah's shoes ended floating down the creek. Well, if you know anything about the flow of water in the creek. Up ahead...Leah's shoes ended up in the bend of the creek which also at the bend is a pool of deep water. I ended up to my waist in water and holding a long stick. I was able to get Leah's shoes back.

Lesson learned...wear swimsuit when taking the kids to the creek. Playing the shoe game maybe wasn't the best idea.

For Sale

Logan decided he wanted to sell some ice cold water. I tried to talk him out of it and have a Lemonade stand but no he was set on selling water. The little guy ended up setting up the whole thing. He pulled out his little table, chairs, and even made a sign. You can't read it because he doesn't know how to write but it was super cute. Sorry, I can't seem to get the picture to upload.

Logan and Leah work hard to fill up each little dixie cup up with water and one ice cube in each cup. I tried to get him to take out a pitcher of ice cold water but he didn't want to. It wasn't long before all the ice had melted in the cups.

Well, he gave it a good shot but no one stop by to buy his ice cold water. I felt really bad for the little guy he tried to so hard. Well, we decided to call it quits and we started to put everything back up.

While cleaning up, Logan told me he was glad no one bought any ice cold water becuase Leah put her fingers into all of the cups. Gross...I was laughing so hard at this point. Ya, good thing we didn't sell any cups of water.

Not sure if Logan 's going to sell water again but maybe next time he will try lemonade.

Running Team

How to kick start the Memorial Day weekend...with a 5k race with my son. I wasn't going to let him run with me becuase last time he kept pulling on my arm trying to get me to slow down. I wasn't happy with him. So, I told him he could run in the fun run mile. He hates running in those one mile runs becuase he thinks that those runs are for babies. Please remember, my son is only 7!

Well, we managed to get up early and head out for the race. I still was on the fence whether I should let him run with me or not. I had a stern talking to him that he would not be running with me. If he couldn't keep up he would have to run by himself. He agree...also no arm pulling.

So, I spent the $40 dollars and sign up the two of us. I really wish it wasn't so expensive. Well, it started of being a nice cool morning but as soon as the race started it started to heat up. We started off...and of course Landon said I was going to fast. ARGHHH!!!!!! I reminded him we weren't running together. I know you'll think I might be mean not slowing down for him but we had an agreement. This race course is one of the fastest course in our area. I wanted to beat my PR! So, he slow down and ended up running a good part of the race with my friend "P"!

As, I came up to the one mile marker. The guy was reading off the time...wow did he just say 8:40. Holy cow...I was smoking hot. I must of slow down afterwards but I'm not sure. It started to get super hot and humid outside. I was trying to keep up with a girl from Rush Running. She's a few years older than me but we are the same height, weight, and built. So, I kept my eyes on her and kept on running.

The second mile was a killer up and down a hill...total sun. They had one water station and I grabbed my cup of water and dump it on top of my head. Oh, did it feel good. I kept on running. I think I started to slow down around the third mile. I kept on pushing. I finally made it back to finish line. I saw the clock read 27:45...Oh, crap! I decided to kick it up into third gear. I managed to finish at 28:05! So, I made my goal but I really would of love to come in under 28 minutes. I was so proud of myself.

I was about to go back and get my backpack so I could take a picture of Landon crossing the finish line. Well, as soon as I turn around...he came right thru the finish line. Holy Cow...my son was running right behind me the whole time. The litttle guy finish a few seconds right after me.

He came in second place for his age group and I came in first place for my age group. I was so shock! I thought maybe 2nd or 3rd place but not 1st place. I was so happy. All of my hardwork is paying off and I love running with my new running club.

LIFE IS GOOD!

5k PR 28:40
2nd Place for his age (11 and under) group
5k PR 28:05
1st place for my age (31-34) group
