Everytime we go blueberry picking. I always think of this book. If you haven't read it before your missing out. This book is a classic. I found out my friend Krista loves this book and its one of her favorite children's book. Just like in the book, were Sal goes blueberry picking with her mother. I took my kids blueberry picking. The kids didn't come across a bear but a turtle. Boy, did that turtle keep the kids busy. If it wasn't for the turtle we probably would of left a lot sooner.
I decided to try using my friend Nancy's jucier/steamer to make blueberry syrup. Wow, I need to get on for myself. This thing make's it so easy to make blueberry juice. I'm going to put this on my wish list.
The kids just had to help. They loved squeezing the clamp and watching the juice come out of the juicer.Seriously, this just took a few minutes.
Don't try to make syrup in this little size of a pot. It ended up boiling over and created a huge mess.
Ta-dah! Blueberry Syrup! All that work for only a couple of jars. I'm done! Yes, I did it. I can't wait to try it.

yummy! I need to try using the steamer juicer next time! It was a mess using the food processor and strainer.
I want to pick again next week! I'm going to bring my kids though. They had a lot of fun last time, if we get there right away it won't be so hot or take as long so they won't have as much time to get bored.
Ya, getting their early is important. The heat is a killer. I really want to pick about 3 or 4 more gallons.
I love that book. It was one of my favorites when I was little. I bought it for my kids before I even had kids just so I would have it around.
