Lesson Plans

Okay, I decided it was time to get myself organized! Christmas is over and life is starting to settled down again. All of my out of town guest have left and I'm still trying to recover! The house is a little bit cleaner and the clothes are in the washing machine. My little ones are making all kinds of adjustments. The kids are missing their cousins and will have to learn to entertain themselves again.

The Teaching Tiny Tots theme this week is going to be CATS.

I decided it's time to get on board again. I think if I try to follow a set schedule things will move again at a better pace and not be so overwhelming.

Landon is home from public school this week. We will be adding more things for him to do with the lessons this week.

If you haven't noticed my play list is playing Mozart music. I decided it will be a very easy way to introduce the children to musical composers by listening to music cd's or on my blog. I'm going to change the composer each week. This week will be Mozart and next week will be Beethoven. I will casually mention the composer and that should be enough for the kids and it will be easy on me.

I started off by reading the kids a poem from Favorite Poems Old and New by Hellen Ferris. I asked the kids to listen to this poem and try to guess what this week's theme would be? The poem I read was called The Rum Tum Tugger by T.S. Eliot. Landon figure it out really quick! So, the weeks theme is CATS.

The chapter book were are going to read this week is called "My Father's Dragon" by Ruth Stiles Gannett and its a Newbery Honor Book. The illustrations in the book are excellent. The books is about a little boy who finds an old alley cat and sends this boy on a secret journey to wild island to free a dragon! We already read the first 5 chapters. The kids keep begging me to read more and more chapters. Its a very interesting read.

The only book I was able to find for the toddler book challegne was Kitten's first moon. The local library is terribly small. I'm not sure of all the activities we will do but I'm almost postivie we will do some milk painting!

So, that's the plan for this week.

I came across your blog from MoziEsme. I just came back from Bella Vista. I am from Illinoi. But my mom lives on one of the lakes there. She just moved there a year ago. We have been so many times it so nice. What a treat to live there.

Anyway, I will have to stop by again.
