Snowballs by Lois Ehlert

Yes, we're on our fifth snow day. Good thing, we managed to get to the library earlier this week. I picked up this fun book at the library. We all love Lois Ehlert books. She always has wonderful collages in her books. In this book she makes these great snowman out of random household items...talk about being creative.

This is my favorite part of the book:

What Kind of a day is it when thick snow is falling everywhere?
A snowball day!

At the back of the book, she has a recipe to make your own snowballs which are really popcorn balls. We use to make these all the time growing up. I can still remember when we lived in Galdstone, MO and making these as a family. The kids had so much fun. The best advice is to make sure to pick out all the kernels...you can do some serious damage to your teeth if happen to munch down on a kernel. Overall, another great way to get the kids involved in literature.

I would of love to take the kids outside to make their own snowman but it's way too cold outside and the layer of frozen ice probably would make it to hard. So, off we went to make our own snowballs.
